Big E Apparently Was Originally Slated To Win At Day 1
This past Saturday, WWE held its first premium live event of 2022 as the promotion hosted Day 1 in Atlanta, Georgia. The main selling point of the card was Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship, however Reigns was pulled from the event just hours prior due to a positive test for COVID-19.
Obviously, this forced WWE to alter their plans. Brock Lesnar was added to the fatal-four-way WWE Championship match between Big E, Kevin Owens, Bobby Lashley and Seth Rollins. Lesnar pinned Big E to win the WWE Championship for the sixth time in his career.
Evidently, this wasn’t the initial finish that WWE had in store for the PPV. WWE on Fox’s Twitter account tweeted out the match results for Day 1. Right under Brock Lesnar’s graphic, the results showed Big E winning the match, causing speculation that he was supposed to win the match originally. The graphic was deleted in a quick fashion.
It’s unknown when the decision for Lesnar to go over was made or how this decision will ultimately impact the plans for Lesnar and Reigns. Lesnar is rumored to appear on tonight’s episode of Raw.
