Corey Graves Is Once Again Cleared To Wrestle
Over the past few years, we’ve seen big names become cleared for an in ring return and their careers resurrected: Bryan Danielson, Edge, Christian. Add Corey Graves to the list.
According to Fightful Select (a subscription based service), inside sources have said that Graves was medically cleared in 2021. He’s previously and briefly held the 24/7 Championship, which would be a good indicator that to some extent, he’s allowed to participate in matches.
Graves announced his retirement from in-ring in December 2014 after repeated concussion issues that left doctors unable to clear him and made a transition to broadcasting, with Triple H offering him a two year commentary contract to start. Since then he has transitioned from NXT commentary, to pre-show Raw, to main commentary for Raw and also hosted WWE Culture Shock on the WWE Network.
Graves has remained hopeful about making a return to the ring, citing Edge as an inspiration during an episode of After The Bell, in which Graves is host and Edge was guesting. “Watching it, honestly, man, it was inspiring. I would say at two or three different points I went, ‘Man, I live in Pittsburgh now. I should go find Dr. Maroon.’ It just gave me that urge to do this all over again, and I don’t know whether or not that’s a possibility, but the thought was planted in my brain for quite some time.”
