Prestige Wrestling, Tokyo Joshi Pro Announces Working Relationship
Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling, a sister promotion of DDT Pro Wrestling founded in 2013, has seen a surge in popularity over the last five years and is home to some of the top Joshi wrestlers in the world, including current International Princess Champion Maki Itoh. Itoh is arguably the most popular Joshi wrestler in the world and made headlines in North America in 2021 for her appearances in AEW. Miyu Yamashita and Yuka Sakazaki are also among the talents on the TJPW roster, with the latter being perhaps the promotions most well-known stalwart.
As the company continues to grow, they’ve now entered a talent exchange with Prestige Wrestling. Prestige Wrestling has been around since 2017 promoting shows in the Pacific Northeast. The COVID-19 pandemic put a pin in quite a bit for the promotion, but they’re back to running shows. Upcoming shows include wrestlers such as EFFY, WARHORSE, Malakai Black, Danhausen, Tom Lawlor, Dark Sheik, Taya Valkyrie, Alex Shelley, Charlie Haas Davey Richards and others.
The deal will bring TJPW talent to the United States to compete in Prestige. With Sakazaki and Itoh being the only TJPW talent to be prominently featured in the U.S. up to this point, fans can expect to see a lot of fresh, yet exceptional female talent injected in the northeast independent scene. CyberFight President Shinshiro Takagi has discussed wanting to expand to U.S. markets and this seems like a logical first step.
