WWE Will Reportedly Not Grant Mustafa Ali His Release Request
Over the weekend Mustafa Ali took to Twitter and announced he had formally requested his release from the WWE.
Ali wrote:
“I have a message that is much bigger than my dreams in pro wrestling. Despite my best efforts, I will not be able to deliver this message while working with WWE. Therefore, I am requesting my release from WWE.”
According to Fightful Select, WWE will not be granting Ali’s request. It was noted that Ali and WWE have spoken but the sides are not in agreement about his release. Ali still has years left on his WWE contract.
“Those Fightful Select heard from confirmed that WWE and Ali have spoken with each other and that Ali was informed that they would not be granting his request for a release at this moment, and as of now it isn’t the plan. Ali has years left on his WWE deal, but hasn’t been used on WWE TV or even at tapings in over two months. While some suspected that he was out on paternity leave, we’re told he’d only asked for one show off.”
It was reported that Ali and Vince McMahon had a very animated talk before Ali requested his release. We will have to see what will happen as keeping him on the roster won’t be good for either side if it’s genuine that he does not want to be there.
H/T to Fightful for the quotes.
