This Sunday at the Royal Rumble Bobby Lashley faces Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship in a match that has wrestling fans foaming at the mouth.
Two pro wrestlers who also have significant pro fighting credentials squaring off at last. But the question that lingers and will continue to remain long after Sunday is: What would happen if it was in the cage? Lashley spoke on The MMA Hour on Wednesday and believes he has the edge.
The fact of the matter is Brock Lesnar is a former UFC Heavyweight Champion who has beaten some of the biggest names in UFC history. Bobby Lashley on the other hand has no significant wins despite a 15-2 record in MMA, with most of his fights taking place under the Bellator or Strikeforce banner. It was during this time frame Lashley had a foot in both pro wrestling with Impact and fighting for Bellator. Lashley never challenged for a world title while Brock Lesnar defeated one of the greatest of all time in Randy Couture to win the UFC Heavyweight championship and was only unseated by Cain Valazquez who is widely regarded as one of the greatest heavyweights of all time.
The fact of the matter is Bobby Lashley may believe he would defeat Brock Lesnar but when matched up, Brock simply fought the best of the best while Lashley hasn’t and that speaks volumes to where the fight would go if it were to happen.
