Kamaru Usman Wanted To Fight Jan Blachowicz For 205 Belt
Kamaru Usman was recently interviewed by GQ Magazine and one of the biggest notes from this interview was Usman’s apparent desire to skip Israel Adesanya’s Middleweight belt and go all the way up to 205 pounds to fight former champion Jan Blachowicz for champ-champ status.
“I was going to skip Israel and go fight Jan at 205 pounds. Because I’m pound-for-pound, I want to prove it. No matter what weight it is I thought he was a really good matchup for me. I think I would beat him.”
Usman is currently the welterweight champion in the UFC with his next bout expected to be vs streaking contender Leon Edwards, following that however, we could see ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ stepping up not just one weight class, but two. It is not clear how serious Usman is about the possibility of jumping up to Light Heavyweight, but whichever weight class his next fight takes place in, Bodyslam.net will have breaking news as its confrimed!
