Kofi Kingston’s Botched Royal Rumble Elimination Caused Spots With Big E To Be Cut
The 2022 WWE Royal Rumble saw the end of an era.
For years, the Royal Rumble has historically spotlighted an incredible and unique highspot elimination saving moment from Kofi Kingston, and last night’s match was supposed to include another memorable moment. However, things didn’t go as planned.
Kofi entered the Rumble as the 24th entrant, but was only able to last 21 seconds before being eliminated after being kicked off the aprun by Kevin Owens. However, that wasn’t the plan for Kofi’s elimination. Kofi attempted to leap from the ring aprun to the barricade around the ring and catch himself before his feet would touch the floor, unfortunately both feet did touch the ground.
According to Bryan Alvarez, Kofi’s spot was mistimed, resulting in the botched elimination spot. This resulted in spots that were planned involving Kofi and Big E to be left out of the Royal Rumble.
“Kofi’s big spot was mistimed and he was legitimately eliminated when he wasn’t supposed to be, there were spots planned later with Big E out there.”
Kofi Kingston commented on the botched spot during Saturday night’s Royal Rumble match, saying:
Welp!
