Nick Wayne Offered AEW Contract
Nick Wayne is one of the fastest rising stars in the history of the independent scene. At only 16 years old, the third-generation wrestler has become one of the top names in promotions such as GCW and DEFY Wrestling.
Wayne, based out of Seattle, was wrestling for the area’s top wrestling promotion last night, falling just short of winning the DEFY Championship against wrestling legend Christopher Daniels. Following the match, AEW star and former DEFY standout Darby Allin appeared and offered Wayne a contract with the promotion.
While AEW hasn’t confirmed that Wayne is officially “All Elite,” Wayne himself alluded such on Twitter in the early hours of the morning.
It’ll be fascinating to see how AEW utilizes such a young talent, seeing as there’s certain areas he won’t be able to compete in, such as the New York market. Wayne and GCW ran into the issue of his age with the New York State Athletic Commission recently when Wayne had to pull out of the show at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Regardless, Wayne is perhaps the best young talent on the independent scene and has the potential to be a major player in AEW for many years to come.
You can watch AEW on Wednesday’s at 8 PM EST on TBS and Friday’s at 10 PM EST on TNT. Bodyslam will keep you up-to-date as more information regarding Wayne’s contract status becomes available.
