AEW Releases Statement on Cody Rhodes’ Future
With the recent reports that Cody Rhodes has been working without a contract with All Elite Wrestling in 2022, Tony Khan and AEW have released a statement on the future of the company with the Rhodes in it.
Cody, alongside Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks, were integral in creating the modern wrestling climate. This includes AEW, where all four were EVP’s from day one. Since requesting his release from WWE in 2015, Cody has become one of the industry’s biggest names. The former IWGP United States Champion, NWA World Champion, Ring of Honor World Champion and three-time AEW TNT Champion has been vital in building the All Elite brand. Cody and his wife Brandi also currently star in TNT Reality Television Series ‘Rhodes to the Top.’
There have been reports throughout the morning that a reunion with WWE, where he is a six-time Tag Team Champion and two-time Intercontinental Champion, has been gaining steam. While this has yet to be confirmed that it’s anywhere near a done-deal, it’s only thrown fuel to the proverbial fire as people within the industry continue to speculate.
Both Cody and his wife Brandi, former Chief Brand Officer of AEW, have released statements that you can read below:
