Last weekend when Bobby Green fought on the UFC 271 prelims, he delivered a career high performance and calls for a main event slot for the UFC veteran were swift including an on air mention from Jon Anik, who later backed up his point on Twitter. It seems now that Green will go through the fire for his main event slot as per Brett Okomoto of ESPN, Green looks set to step in for injured Beneil Dariush on February 26th to fight Islam Makhachev.
Not many lightweights are trying to get a fight with Islam, who has become a boogeyman like fighter for the lightweight division, so Green’s willingness to step in on such short notice at a catchweight is to be admired.
