This week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown was taped in New Orleans, ahead of Saturday’s Elimination Chamber event in Saudi Arabia. The go-home show for this weekend’s Premium Live Event, the episode added stipulations to Saturday’s program and crowned a new champion.
The show opened with the contract signing between Ronda Rousey, Naomi, Sonya Deville and Charlotte Flair. Sonya worked into the contract that Rousey must compete in Saturday’s tag team bout with one arm tied behind her back. During the show, WWE played a Hall of Fame video package for the Undertaker, featuring Metallica’s 1991 certified platinum hit ‘Sad But True.’ SmackDown also had a standoff between Roman Reigns and Bill Goldberg, as well as two excellent matches in Sheamus vs Ricochet and Sami Zayn vs Shinsuke Nakamura.

- Ricochet defeats Sheamus.
- Ivar defeats Jey Uso via disqualification.
- Sami Zayn defeats Shinsuke Nakamura to become Intercontinental Champion.
