AJ Styles Extends Deal With WWE
Dave Meltzer reported approximately a month ago that AJ Styles had inked an extension with the promotion. Fightful Select is now confirming that this is, in fact, the case.
Fightful is reporting that the contract extension is a multi-year pact. His original contract was set to expire in late Spring. With how big of a name AJ Styles is, Fightful noted that WWE anticipated a lot of interest from rival promotions, causing a sense of urgency to get a deal done with the 2x WWE Champion. The extension is north of the $3M AAV range. Sources indicated to Fightful that Styles “would easily make that back for the company.” Styles also landed travel accomodations.
AJ Styles has previously noted that he’s planning on retirement after his WWE tenure ends. Styles is one of the top competitors of this century, winning championship gold around the world. Styles is a former WWE, IWGP, PWG, NWA and TNA World Heavyweight Champion. Over the course of his decorated run in pro wrestling, AJ Styles has accumulated 53 championships across 19 promotions.
