Drake Maverick Signs With WWE
PWInsider broke news late Monday that Drake Maverick is back working with WWE in a backstage capacity. James Curtin, better known as Drake Maverick to WWE fans and Rockstar Spud prior to that, took on a new role as a member of the RAW Creative Team approximately a month ago.
Maverick started with WWE back in 2017 as the General Manager of 205 Live, prior to becoming the manager of The Authors of Pain. Eventually, Maverick worked his way into the 205 Live Cruiserweight division and was a staple of WWE 24/7 Championship picture.
Of course, wrestling fans will remember the heart-wrenching video he uploaded to social media following his 2020 release that came amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and budget cuts. After the video went viral, Maverick was quickly re-signed by Triple H and brought back to the NXT Brand.
Maverick was again released in November due to WWE’s on-going budget cuts. Maverick has been known to have one of the better minds for the sport of professional wrestling so bringing him back into the company to help with creative has been viewed as a smart business decision by the company.
