Is WWE Actually Creating New Stars?

Someone “prominent” in the wrestling media circle made a tweet saying that WWE is actually creating new stars with the likes of Madcap Moss and Austin Theory as examples of this, but is this true, is WWE actually creating new stars?

We need to first define what a star is. In WWE say all their wrestlers are stars, but in reality its a very small circle and gatekeeping this circle is Vince McMahon. To be a star in WWE and even in other promotions you need to be a needle mover, and let me tell you, Theory and Moss are not moving the needle in any metric. You also have to envision them if they’ll one day main event WrestleMania, and the chances are very low with them. A star is someone who most likely be a works champion and those two are not going to be world champions any time soon.

Theory and Moss don’t have the best booking and are barely protected at all. So to claim they’ll be future stars is weird. Theory is still pretty young so he has that on his favor, but Moss is 32! To put it into context, he’s the same age as Adam Cole, you can’t be a future prospect when you’re in your 30s.

WWE is not on the business of creating new stars. They just need one main guy and surround him with legends like they’ve been doing these last 6 years. WWE is not on the need of creating new stars because of their TV deals and because nostalgia sells and it’s easier to book an old legend than creating someone new.

WWE is more focused on using celebrities than actually creating new stars. Tyler Bate was an up-and-coming prospect and his been part of WWE for 6 years. On that time, they’ve failed to make Bate their next big European star.

Claiming WWE is creating new stars is ignoring the state of WWE Bad what they are offering right now. If they cared about creating new stars, you would see attempts to it and that’s not the case with Moss and Theory.
