Gabriel Kidd Taking Some Time Off From Wrestling
New NJPW LA Dojo graduate Gabriel Kidd is taking a break from wrestling to get some rest and take care of himself, he was pulled from a recent NJPW Strong show on the 17th of February before competing for NJPW Strong against Fred Rosser on the 19th of February.
Kidd was recently pulled from the up coming Terminus 2 show on the 24th of February, with Fightful reporting he had been pulled from the show due to injury, Kidd was due to face Davey Richards.
Taking to Twitter earlier today Kidd would write;
“This isn’t a wrestling promo. I am not well and will be taking time off because after 13 years of dedicating my life and putting wrestling first I need a rest. Thank you to my family and closest friends for giving me the wake up call I’ve needed for a while. I’ll be back.”
Kidd came under fire recently by some sections of Wrestling Fans due to some outspoken comments made about the AEW four Pillars and other popular stars whilst on the WresThings Podcast as well as during an Interview with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com.
This was escalated when it came to light that on the WresThings podcast Kidd had come out in support of his friend NXT UK star Sid Scala following accusations he faced during the speaking out movement. Many saw Kidd’s comments as insensitive at best and choosing to side with an alleged abuser at worst.
This lead to many people and trolls harassing Gabriel Kidd and even his Family, until many top names within wrestling including Will Ospreay took to Twitter, to ask people to stop responding to Gabriel Kidd on Twitter, fearing for his mental health.
This was the reason he was pulled from the NJPW Strong “Rivals” show on the 17th of February where he was due to face Christopher Daniels. Kidd did compete against Fred Rosser in a match at recent NJPW Strong Tapings on the 19th after which he gave an impassioned speech about representing NJPW.
It would seem that now a decision has been made for Kidd to take some time off from Wrestling for the sake of his health, Kidd had previously spoken about mental health issues and even suicidal thoughts when he returned to NJPW early this year.
Kidd is just coming off a recent tour of his home Country in the UK, where he had some incredible matches aganist Yota Tsuji, Mark Haskins, Francesco Akira and more for Wrestle Carnival, North Wrestling NCL and Rev Pro UK respectively. Gabriel Kidd also earned as Shot a Will Ospreay’s Rev Pro UK Undisputed British Heavweight Championship.
