AEW Picks Up Brian Cage’s Contract Option
In a rather stunning turn of events, the Path of Cage will evidently continue to go through All Elite Wrestling, as the promotion has reportedly picked up his contract. Cage, who hasn’t been on AEW television since October, has seemingly been unhappy in his current arrangement as his wife has voiced her displeasure on social media. He’s also been working outside Independent shows.
According to a report from Fightful Select, “word made it around backstage at Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show that Brian Cage had told those close to him picked up his option year on his contract.” Fightful conveyed that the move surprised even Cage, who was under the assumption that his time with the promotion was nearing its end. Recently, the 38-year-old had been working independent shows such as Warrior Wrestling, VxS and XPW. He is the current XPW World Champion.
Cage made his AEW debut at the 2020 Double or Nothing pay-per-view, winning the Casino Ladder Match and earning an opportunity at then-AEW World Champion Jon Moxley. Aligned with Taz, Cage has spent a majority of his tenure AEW as a member of Team Taz and as FTW World Champion.
