William Regal shocked nthe world when he appeared on the first AEW PPV of the year to stop Moxley and Danielson from fighting.
So far, we know that William Regal bill have the role of coach backstage, just Arn Anderson, Jerry Lynn and Billy Gunn have for AEW. Getting someone with the experience of Regal and specially someone that is an expert on technical wrestling will be good for all the young technical wrestlers in AEW.
Now, as an on-screen, that’s a completely different deal. WWE has run the character of GMs to the ground and Regal a good on-screen GM for NXT, but AEW doesn’t really need a GM, not now and probably never. Regal could be GM of ROH or be a manager for a young wrestlers like we’ve seen AEW do countless times, or he could be the manager of s tag team formed by Moxley.snf Danielson.
Some fans think that Regal could a good booker for ROH when it comes back, but there’s not enough of a track record to why Regal should have that job. Please keep in mind Regal’s actually job with NXT was that of a scout for WWE on the indies and potential prospects on other sports. He was not the shoot GM of NXT.
It’s.to early to tell what exactly Regal’s role will be with AEW overall, but one tht is for sure, this is an interesting signing and another sign that NXT Black & Gold is dead.
