Rey Mysterio is a true legend in professional wrestling and is regarded as one of the most famous luchadores ever. His footprint extends all over the world and throughout many different promotions. So, it was no surprise when WWE announced that Rey was picked as the star for the WWE 2K22 cover art, however, Rey himself was stunned just a bit.
During an interview with Complex, Mysterio talked about how he found out he was the cover star for the WWE 2K22 video game. Mysterio admitted he didn’t understand he would be the cover star at first when he was told about it.
“So, WWE first approached me in regards to doing some promotional work for the game. And I guess I didn’t understand it right off the bat? But I swear they didn’t tell me that I was going to be on the cover of the game, or that it was going to be based around me. But slowly, as I was shooting and doing promotions, the bomb just hit nd they were like, ‘You know, this is based on you. You are the cover of the game this year. I was like, ‘Oh no way. Damn, that’s cool. That’s dope.‘”
WWE 2K22 is now available for purchase but it is possible that this could be the last WWE game under the 2K brand as it was recently reported that WWE has initiated talked with EA Games.
