This afternoon on Twitter, Nate Diaz tweeted out his request for his release from the UFC, he has been vocal about wanting to fight for the last 7 months but the UFC has not found him an opponent or announced any future plans to see the Stockton fighter compete this year. Diaz last fight in the UFC was against Leon Edwards at welterweight in a loss by decision, since then he’s requested to fight Dustin Poirier, Conor McGregor in a trilogy, but nothing has been made or announced. Diaz has asked to be on Bellator’s upcoming card in Hawaii and if his request is accepted, we could be seeing Diaz fight in a different promotion for the first time since 2007.
Diaz has fought against legends like Clay Guida, Rory MacDonald, Donald Cerrone, Jim Miller, Benson Henderson, Rafael Dos Anjos, Conor McGregor. He won the Ultimate Fighter 5, has competed for a UFC Championship and has cemented his name as one of the baddest fighters on the planet, if Diaz does fight elsewhere then we could see him add to the list of legends or add a championship to his resume. Until then we will keep you updated on what comes next for Diaz, the UFC and his future in MMA.
