Earlier this week, Fightful Select had reported that both Marcel Barthel and Gunther (formerly Walter) of Imperium were set to be moved to the main roster, as part of the traditional post Wrestlemania call-ups, but only these two. Fabian Aichner has seemingly not been included in the move.
However, in an interesting turn of events, WrestleVotes indicated today that there may be a name change for Barthel, with the working name being “Ludwig”. Fans more than familiar with WWE and Vince McMahon’s penchant for abrupt changing of names for talent relocating to the main roster should not be entirely surprised. Over the past two years, we’ve seen roughly 5 name changes to NXT talent who were previously at the top of the game in that division prior to call-up: Walter to Gunther, Mia Yim, Dominik Dijakovic, and Dio Maddin to Reckoning, T-Bar and Mace of the ill fated stable Retribution, Piper Niven to Doudrop and most recently Pete Dunne to Butch.
Fightful is also reporting that Raquel Gonzalez may possibly be undergoing a name change as well, but nothing is definite at present time.
