WWE Cardiff Premium Live Event Pre-Sale Registration Sets New Company Record

Following their record setting WrestleMania week in Dallas, WWE announced on the morning of Tuesday March the 12th, that they will be returning to the United Kingdom to run a Premium Live Event, on Saturday the 3rd of September, at the Principality Stadium, in Cardiff, Wales.

This will mark the first ‘Pay per view’ type event held in the United Kingdom, since they held their final ‘Insurrexion’ event, at Wembley arena in May of 2002, and the first stadium show WWE has held on UK since their famous 1992 Summerslam show, headlined by Bret Hart and The British Bulldog, Davey Boy Smith.

Following this announcement, their was uproarious praise and delight online from UK based wrestling fans, as they had been crying out for a show of this calibre for some time. TalkSport Radio’s Alex McCarthy, today has reported on twitter, that pre sale sign ups for this event, have surpassed all previous WWE records in a 24 hour time frame.

“WWE tell me more than 59,000 people pre-registered for tickets for WWE’s UK PPV in Cardiff in the first 24 hours.

This marks a new company record for any event – even WrestleMania! The UK is gonna go off 🎉”

The Principality Stadium is known for regularly holding up to 80,000 fans for Wales international rugby games, and is famed for its atmosphere, once the roof of the stadium is closed. The previous indoor combat event record for this stadium, was for Anthony Joshua boxing against Carlos Takam in October 2017, where 78,000 fans were in attendance.
