Kushida Parts Ways With WWE After Contract Expires, Update On Where He Might Go Next
Kushida has left WWE, according to reports.
News broke Tuesday night via Fightful Select, that NXT Superstar Kushida has left WWE. It was stated that the early indications that they were given is that Kushida’s WWE deal had expired. It was not known whether or not WWE offered him a new deal.
Early indications that Fightful was given was that his deal expired, though we haven’t been given any idea as to whether or not a new one was offered.
Kushida’s WWE departure was discussed on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, and Dave Meltzer confirmed Fightful’s report, adding that the belief within WWE was that Kushida was expected to start with New Japan Pro Wrestling in June. He added that it was no secret within the company that Kushida planned on leaving.
“He is done. His contract expired. It was not a secret that he wasn’t gonna stay. I know in WWE the belief is that he starts with New Japan in June. So, that’s what they believe and it’s probably the case.”
Fightful also reported that there was a story regarding Kushida from early in his WWE NXT run, regarding him not being assigned a locker for months due to the Performance Center being so overcrowded.
“There was a story regarding Kushida early in his NXT run, in which several Performance Center talents recounted to Fightful that it took months for the Performance Center to get many people a locker because they were so overcrowded, with Kushida being among the most high profile names to go without one.”
