Why The Hardys Were Booked On AEW Dark: Elevation
When Jeff Hardy was released from the WWE, it was pretty obvious he would be joining his brother Matt in AEW and that is exactly what we have gotten with the brothers reuniting on AEW TV for one last run.
They have been a pretty active part of Dynamite in since Jeff’s debut and most recently Tony Khan drew the ire of fans by booking the pair for AEW Dark: Elevation, something many saw as a downgrade for the legendary tag team, but Matt Hardy explained on his podcast that this was not the case and explained Tony’s reasoning.
“That [tag team match] was going to be on Rampage and Tony said, ‘Well, I feel like we’re just giving [the fans] a Dynamite and I want to give them all the stars that are here, I want to give them the best experience possible. Would you be okay just moving this Rampage match so they see the Hardys? We’ll take that Rampage match that I talked about doing and just bump it to Elevation, and that way, the live crowd gets to see you and it’ll be a huge match for Elevation. Hopefully, that’ll do a great number online.”
The Hardys would go on to wrestle on Elevation and Dark, winning both matches where they would team with Top Flight and Frankie Kazarian to face different versions of the AFO stable in big tag team action. It would seem that the Hardys for now, are going to be on Dark and Elevation more going forward, which may draw more criticism from the naysayers.
