Gail Kim Reveals Details Of Signing Masha Slamovich To IMPACT Wrestling
For years, Masha Slamovich has been a popular performer whose appearances span various promotions, such as CZW and Warriors of Wrestling. She has appeared on AEW: Dark, and first appeared for IMPACT in 2019. She returned to IMPACT in her pay per view debut on October 9, 2021 at Knockouts Knockdown, where she was offered a full time IMPACT contract by Gail Kim.
Kim recently revealed the behind the scenes events behind Slamovich’s signing. As Slamovich was pitted in the ring against Deonna Purazzo, Kim was getting a feel that Slamovich would be a great signee. WrestleZone reports that Kim confided to Sescoops, “I was like, ‘Oh my God, we need her. We need her. Get Scott.’ And there’s Jimmy Jacobs backstage. I mean, there’s a crowd backstage and we’re like, ‘Let’s make it happen. Let’s make it happen’, as the match is happening. So I knew the match was ending soon, I was like, ‘Make up your mind. We’ve got to do this, we’ve got to do this, we’ve got to make the call.”
The deal between Slamovich and IMPACT was not finalized at the time of the ppv’s first airing, according to WrestleZone, so the footage of Slamovich battling Purrazzo was added into a later airing. Kim’s intuition to ‘make the call’ regarding Slamovich led to another exciting acquisition for the Knockouts division.
