Matt Hardy Reveals Ryback Was Scheduled For Total Nonstop Deletion
Cinematic matches are a very complicated part of pro wrestling, even prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.
We have witnessed a variety of such matches across several companies, including The Boneyard Match, The Firefly Funhouse Match and the one that started it off: Impact’s Total Nonstop Deletion.
On the latest episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Matt went into detail of the original plans for the spectacular event as well as more details into the growth of “Broken Matt Hardy” in Impact.
“Originally this event was scheduled to be done a couple of weeks earlier but there was all this controversy between Billy Corgan and Anthem over who owned the ownership and booking of these events, we had to move this two weeks later and then The Young Bucks were in Japan at the time.”

Hardy continued to talk about about the Total Nonstop Deletion event, mentioning that a police officer showed up and questioned whether they had a permit – only for him to leave with a friendly experience with a fan.
“At one point we were doing this scene, a policeman pulled in, And he said ‘hey guys, what’s going on here,’ we said ‘hey man, how are you?’ He said ‘oh sh**, what’s going on Hardy Boyz, how are you doing?’ We said ‘we’re filming something for this show coming up,’ he said ‘did you guys have a permit?’ We said ‘no no, we don’t have a permit,’ he said ‘it’s okay, you guys just go ahead.’ We do okay in Cameron, we get away with stuff.”

The Young Bucks were not the only stars that had to miss the event despite plans for appearances. Former WWE title challenger Ryback was originally scheduled to team with Rockstar Spud but had to pull out of the event, being replaced by Hornswoggle.
“Initially it was going to be Ryback, and then at the last second something changed and he couldn’t make it. Then we had to get someone at the last second and we ended up getting Hornswoggle”
