Dark Side Of The Ring Cancelled, Producers Starting New Wrestling Project
Dark Side Of The Ring was a series produced by Vice studios in which they would delve into the darkest stories in pro wresting history. Currently, there have been three seasons with a total of 30 episodes. Some topics that have been discussed on the show include the Chris Benoit tragedy, Owen Hart’s death and the WWE steroid scandal. Unfortunately it appears that the show has reached its end.
The show was not renewed for a fourth season and the producers of the show will look to start other pro wrestling projects, per Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer. Meltzer went into detail of the problems that were caused on the “Plane Ride From Hell” episode which proved to be the downfall of the show:
“Because they were relying on memories of people from 20 years ago and there were multiple flights back from Europe where guys were drunk and out of control, but the famous one didn’t have Vince McMahon or Linda McMahon on the flight, although people on that flight told them that they were.
“There were also complaints from Rob Van Dam, Dreamer and Ross about how they were depicted on that episode claiming to have been taken out of context. Ross had questioned appearing on the show going forward publicly.”

Hopefully when the producers come back with another show, it will keep the gritty honest feel of The Dark Side Of The Ring.
