Sometimes a kayfabe trip to the hospital can help a storyline gather some momentum.
A heel beating down a face to the point they are stretchered out of an arena is a good way to build stakes in a match up. It gives the face a disadvantage and it gives heat to the heel. Most recently, we witnessed this form of attack on SmackDown. Happy Corbin would attack Madcap Moss from behind during an interview in the ring and would injure Moss to the point of needing a stretcher, that Corbin happily gloated about prior to Moss being loaded into an ambulance.
Of course, we know this injury is not legitimate but a tool to advance the storyline between Corbin and Moss. However, WWE did post an update to their Twitter page:
“UPDATE: @MadcapMoss was transported to a local medical facility for further evaluation following tonight’s attack by Happy Corbin.”
