Marvin Vettori Wants 5-Round Main Event Against Robert Whittaker at UFC Paris on Sept. 3
The main event for UFC Paris could be set between The Italian Dream and the former Middleweight champion for Sept. 3.
Marvin Vettori took to Twitter yesterday where he called out Robert Whittaker for a fight, the two were scheduled to meet at UFC 275 in June before Whittaker pulled out in April due to an injury.
Whittaker responded yesterday after the callout with the caption “PARIS” and tagging the UFC and Vettori to let them know he was interested in stepping in the octagon.
Vettori’s last UFC bout was in the main event of UFC Vegas 41 where he defeated Paulo Costa by unanimous decision at Light Heavyweight, prior to that bout he lost to current Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya in a rematch to make him 0-2 against the Last Stylebender.
The last time we saw Robert Whittaker in the octagon was in a loss against Adesanya for the championship at UFC 271 on Feb. 12th. After making the move to Middleweight, Whittaker entered a different level of fighting which led him winning the interim title at UFC 213 against Yoel Romero before he was promoted to undisputed champion after George St-Pierre vacated and retired.
A formal offer has not been sent out by the UFC yet, we will keep you updated when the contracts are signed and the potential main event bout is booked.
