Hangman Page Believes “Cultural Shift” Has Lead To More Emotions Being Shown By Wrestlers
Hangman Adam Page can even get anxious at times.
Recently there has been a big push from AEW regarding the importance of mental health in our sport. We have heard from Tony Khan, Eddie Kingston, William Regal and so on regarding the backstage environment. Now, the AEW World Champion has had his say on ‘the cultural shift’ happening in wrestling today:
“In the macho world of pro wrestling, those kinds of emotions are often the least explored and I think people were ready to see that,”
“Many are unable to take into account the cultural shift that’s happened in relation to our attitudes toward even acknowledging our mental health, much less the idea that a character can go through those things without being seen as ‘weak,'”
Hangman Page to ABC News
Of course Adam Page has referred to himself as the Anxious Millennial Cowboy, so this isn’t new information that he has had his struggles. Hopefully the stigma around mental health in professional wrestling will be a thing of the past soon.
