Road Dogg Comments On WWE Name Changes
Road Dogg has his say regarding fan reaction to WWE name changes.
Name changes are a part of professional wrestling. A new gimmick, a new company or just a new name that is trademarked, all are parts of the sport. We see many name changes in WWE in particular. We have seen Gunther, Theory and Alba Fyre all change their in ring names. Some fans have criticised these name changes.
Speaking with Bill Pritchard of WrestleZone, Road Dogg commented on the slew of name changes that have taken place recently, saying that it sucks now but in six months we’re all likely to forget.
“It’s just like when you think back, they changed Fergal McDevitt, or whatever his name was, to Finn Balor. [People were like] ‘Oh my god, the world is gonna end.’ Now it’s just like ‘Finn Balor, yay!’ Do you know what I mean? It hurts for a minute when they change something you were used to. So you go ‘Oh, that sucks,’ and in six months you forgot about that and you have a t-shirt with the new name on it. We as a fanbase, and I say we because I’m a huge wrestling fan, we want what we want and we want it right now,”

Road Dogg does bring up a good point as we see even now with Gunther, fans were furious at his name change and now, it’s like it doesn’t matter to the majority of fans. What do you think of WWE’s changing of names? Let us know in the comments section and on our social media pages.
