CM Punk Refused To Put Over The Rock In A Promo From 2013
It looks like there was even more controversy regarding Royal Rumble 2013 then originally thought.
Former WWE writer Matt McCarthy recently revealed that CM Punk had problems delivering a promo about The Rock during their rivalry in 2013.
The Rock ended Punk’s 434-day WWE Championship reign at the 2013 Royal Rumble. A month later, The Great One defeated John Cena in a rematch at Elimination Chamber, setting up a second consecutive WrestleMania main event. McCarthy recalled Punk’s reaction when he was given a script he didn’t like.
I remember Punk being handed a promo about The Rock and him refusing to [say it]. He’s like, ‘So now I’ve got to f*cking put over The Rock? F*ck that.’ I remember that happening. I don’t recall anyone walking out per se.

This is no surprise to anyone familiar with how Punk felt regarding this decision. Punk has specified in the past that he was not a fan of ending his record breaking title reign with The Rock.
