Jericho reveals his secrets.
Chris Jericho has had many different gimmicks over the years. In WWE he routinely changed up his gimmick to remain fresh and we have seen the same from Jericho in AEW since he debuted with the promotion back in 2019. Currently, Jericho is the leader of the faction The Jericho Appreciation Society and calls himself “The Wizard.”
While speaking during the post AEW Double Or Nothing media scrum, Chris Jericho revealed his secret for always getting gimmicks over in his career.
”I think I’m thing that I’m pretty good at is reading the room. And, I’ve had a lot of things where I thought — GFY — that’s a good one. And the same night, Mox came out and said ”go f*ck yourself” so that was done. Like, no one was really getting into it. However, for example, The Wizard … I start seeing people like okay they’re making GIFs of Chris Jericho as Gandalf, all the cartoons and Dragon Ball Z … this is interesting, they like his wizard. Little kids now, they’re posting videos.”
That’s why we did the fireball thing last week on the random backstage guy. You just read the room, and nobody brings signs anymore. I used to be able to read the signs, but now I read social media. I think it is just reading the climate of the room and reading what people do. I have 32 years of doing this, I have a good feel of what people might be into.”

Time will tell how Jericho will change up his gimmick again in the near future – however the Jericho Appreciation Society likely isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
