It’s been a controversial weekend for MJF and AEW. On Sunday night, MJF would appear at Double Or Nothing despite many reports claiming he was not interested in showing up for his contracted appearance. MJF would lose to Wardlow in convincing fashion, eating a dozen powerbombs in the process. After the match, MJF was wheeled out of the arena on a stretcher to “You deserve it” chants.
Fightful Select stated that they were unable to confirm MJF’s hiatus through their sources. It was further reported that a sit-down meeting between MJF and Tony Khan was slated to go down.
AEW sources told Fightful Monday that MJF had not flown home, and that there was a sit down meeting between Tony Khan and MJF planned. We should make this clear, at this point, we’ve not determined whether this aspect is real or a work, and when we asked, no follow up answer was provided, which was a first throughout this situation. Any time in a scenario like this, we’ll make our best efforts for clarity and transparency in that regard.
