Cody Rhodes Has Helped Change AEW Talent’s Minds About Possibly Joining WWE
Cody Rhodes may be indirectly helping WWE sign new talent.
Rhodes has had an interesting run in WWE since debuting. He has been treated as a star since the moment he stepped out from behind the curtain, er, elevator. Prior to this of course, Rhodes was a pivotal player in AEW, helping found the company and develop it to what it is today.
In this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer discussed how Cody Rhodes going to WWE has changed some opinions in the AEW locker room. Rhodes is set to face Seth Rollins at this coming weekends Hell In A Cell PPV and has been treated as a legitimate star since his return to the promotion at WrestleMania 38.
“Up until recently, most AEW regulars and top stars privately were not talking about going to WWE. Some indicated never wanting to leave. Many, because of their size and the new direction of NXT, saw no future in it. Obviously the success of Cody Rhodes in WWE, plus his earning more money, has changed some minds.”

Time will tell if anyone else will jump ship from AEW to WWE but if MJF’s current situation is any indication, this could lead to a lot more negotiating on Tony Khan’s part in order to secure AEW talent to contracts.
