Toni Storm’s AEW Debut Was A Last Minute Decision
Last second decisions can reap rewards in pro wrestling.
When Toni Storm left the WWE, she suffered with depression and motivation issues with relation to her pro wrestling career. While she was happy to be free from her contract, it seemed like there was a lot missing from Toni’s professional career.
Toni would speak to Renee Paquette on The Sessions about her AEW debut and how it came about. Storm defeated The Bunny as a surprise opponent to qualify for the Owen Hart tournament in her debut.
“That was a trip, wasn’t it? I didn’t really have much notice, going into that, it was kind of a last minute thing. I had no idea what the future had for me. I didn’t know if I was going to get a job. I had no idea what was next. Then, I get a call last second, after my 90 days were up. ‘Yeah, okay, I’ll be there, see you soon.’ [laughs].”

Of course, AEW would have more than likely been waiting for the 90 days to expire before approaching Storm in order to avoid any legal trouble. Toni is currently involved in a program with Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter.
