Athena Explains Why She Left WWE For AEW
AEW star Athena debuted for the company at Double Or Nothing a little while ago. She came out to help even the odds with Kris Statlander and Anna Jay vs The Baddie Section and it appears Athena may be next for Jade Cargill. Athena made her in ring debut on last week’s AEW Rampage, defeating Kiera Hogan. Now, she will face Red Velvet on this week’s Rampage.
Athena recently sat down with the “Complex Unsanctioned” podcast and discussed her debut with All Elite Wrestling:
“When you look at the AEW PPVs and you’re seeing all of my friends that I used to roll with on the indies and they’re finally getting the platform that they deserve and it’s just like, ‘Man, they look like they’re having so much fun and I gotta be a part of it,’ you know?” Athena said. “And it just kept setting in. It’s like the more time that went on there the more I was just looking at AEW, the more I was like longing to be at AEW.”
Athena to Complex Unsanctioned
Clearly, Athena was a fan of AEW long before she signed with the promotion and now that she has, she seems to be having more fun than ever in the ring. As mentioned previously, Athena is set to take on Red Velvet in a singles match on Friday’s edition of Rampage.
