While in NXT, EC3 carried over his gimmick from IMPACT wrestling where he became incredibly over despite being a fantastic heel. In a similar way to how MJF garners a lot of heat while remaining a top prospect in the eyes of fans across the world. Most recently, EC3 has been pivotal in the beginning of a new pro wrestling promotion named Control Your Narrative.
During this week’s “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy,” EC3 discussed turning down offers from other wrestling companies so that he could continue to travel on his path with Control Your Narrative.
“There were times when companies asked me to come in to do the old thing. I’m like, ‘I don’t think I can’, even though it would be easy to come back and do a top 1%. But the circumstances and what I went through, there has to be a consequence to it from a creative standpoint,”
So maybe I cost myself a lot of money or opportunities, but I’m sticking on the path.

Of course, being both a former IMPACT and WWE star, his drawing power is a substantial amount. His character in the top 1% of course was one of the most charismatic heels in the business at the time. Time will tell how EC3 will continue to try to control his narrative.
