No Target Date Set For CM Punk’s Return
It doesn’t look like CM Punk is gonna be back anytime soon.
Punk announced last week on AEW Rampage that he would require surgery to fix and injury he sustained earlier that week. It is looking like he broke his foot and as such, there is a general estimate time for his return to full time competition. Punk will not have to relinquish the AEW World Title, so his injury won’t keep him out for too long.
Dave Meltzer commented on the injury on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, comparing it to Matt Cardona and Cody Rhodes’ current injuries:
“(Matt) Cardona’s torn bicep, we’re talking 6-7 months generally. Torn pec (Cody Rhodes), about the same. Foot surgery not as much, (CM) Punk will be back quicker than that but there’s no target date or anything like that just yet”

CM Punk has a championship to defend so will try to return at the earliest opportunity but for now, there will be an interim title match decided at Forbidden Door.
