Trish Stratus Believes A Spot Between Her And Victoria Changed WWE’s Outlook On The Women’s Division
Trish Stratus thinks one spot in particular changed the outlook of women’s wrestling in WWE.
For a long time, women’s wrestling in WWE was seen as a bit of a joke. Most competitors were former models or actors who were trained to wrestle. It wasn’t until the 2010’s that WWE would begin to take the women’s division seriously as NXT kicked down the door with stars like Sasha Banks, Charlotte Flair, Asuka, Becky Lynch and more.
While on Busted Open Podcast, Trish Stratus was asked what moment she thought resulted in the company looking at the women’s division with more importance. She mentioned the chair shot spot with Victoria back in 2002.
“Someone talked about the chair shot that Victoria and I did and it was like the chair shot like one simple chair shot and there were meetings about it, there were people discussing. I feel like that was the deal, we were kind of turning the corner.”

Of course, Trish may not be right in that regard as it was still another decade before women were given more time in matches and the chance to showcase their skills on a higher level.
