Sean O’Malley On Cruz vs. Vera Main Event: I wouldn’t be surprised if Chito won
Sean O’Malley is putting his prediction in for the anticipated Dominick Cruz vs. Marlon Vera main event bout on August 13th.
The only loss O’Malley suffered was against Vera at UFC 252 in the last 20 seconds of the 1st round, since then Vera has been 4-1 in his last 5 fights with wins over Davey Grant, Frankie Edgar and Rob Font recently in the main event of UFC on ESPN 35.
On his YouTube Channel, O’Malley spoke about the main event on August 13th between Cruz and Vera:
“When Jose (Aldo) fought ‘Chito,’ I said, ‘I think Jose wins that fight. When Chito fought Frankie (Edgar), I said, ‘I think Chito wins that fight.’ Chito fought Rob (Font), I think I said, ‘Chito wins that fight.’ Chito vs. Dom (Cruz), I think Dom wins. I just think Dom’s gonna be a little bit too fast, just a little bit better than Chito. But, with that being said, I wouldn’t be surprised if Chito won, but I do think Dom’s gonna take that.”
O’Malley is expected to fight Bantamweight contender Pedro Munhoz at UFC 276 on July 2nd, he went on to talk about Munhoz and how he sees the matchup going.
“I feel like I’m gonna piece him up,” O’Malley said of Munhoz. “He’s the toughest guy I’ve fought, hands down. Shortest guy I’ve fought. I just do really, really well against short people. I do well against pretty much any body type, but short people are the easier ones. Not easier, but they give me the most advantage.”
He continued, “I re-watched Dom vs. Pedro a little bit. It was a good scrap. Dom still looks good, 36 years old. Pedro I think is 35. They both still looked good. I feel like when I’m that old, I’m still gonna be pecking around, feeling good too.”
A win over Munhoz for O’Malley would get him into the top 10 for the Bantamweight rankings for the first time in his career, they are currently slated to open the PPV and we will keep you updated on the match card for the big event.
