Joey Janela Calls Out AEW For Lack Of TV Time Given To Sonny Kiss
Former AEW Star Joey Janela, who previously teamed with and feuded against Sonny Kiss, has called out the promotion for their lack of TV time they give Sonny Kiss, yet they use Sonny for promotional material during Pride Month in this tweet below:
Joey says in the tweet that they haven’t used Sonny on TV “in like 2 years” which, he is absolutely correct about. Sonny Kiss’ last televised AEW Dynamite match was on 9/9/20 episode of AEW Dynamite where Sonny teamed with Joey in a losing effort against The Inner Circle. Since then, we’ve only seen Sonny Kiss compete on AEW Dark & AEW Dark Elevation.
Sonny Kiss represents the LGBTQ+ community, and now during Pride Month, AEW is using Sonny as one of the talent promoting Pride on AEW/TBS commercials. Very questionable tactics from AEW/Tony Khan, especially if they don’t use Sonny on TV after the month of June. So far, Sonny Kiss has not interacted with Joey’s tweet in any manner.
Will AEW use Sonny after June? Or will we chalk this up to using your LGBTQ+ talent just to promote and then not speak about them when the promoting time is over? Only time will tell. Hopefully we seen Sonny Kiss on AEW TV consistently sooner rather than later, after all, it’s been two years.
