Tony Khan Wants Forbidden Door To Be An Annual Event
It looks like the AEW president wants to continue working with New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Earlier this year, AEW and NJPW announced that they would be co-promoting a PPV in June titled Forbidden Door. It is expected to be a versus PPV for the most part, with both companies top stars clashing. Several matches have already been confirmed for the event, but it is still not fully booked yet.
Now, Tony Khan wants to make the event an annual one going forward. While speaking with Comicbook.com, Tony Khan talked about AEW’s partnership with NJPW.
“It started with AEW wrestlers going there and I had some thoughts and ideas about what they should or shouldn’t be doing. And then New Japan started sending wrestlers here later in 2021, and for over a year, the Forbidden Door has gone both ways with wrestlers coming in from both companies and out and working for each other.”
“So it is different when we’re working together like this and it’s been a great collaboration for a long time now with AEW and New Japan, and I like working with Gedo.
(When Asked If the event will be annual) Yeah. I think we are hoping that’s what it’ll become.”

Time will tell if this will be an annual PPV going forward, but with it already having the highest gate in AEW history, it is very likely that this will happen going forward.
