Zabit Magomedsharipov has notified UFC that he is officially retired.
According to MMAFighting, multiple people with knowledge of the situation confirmed on Wednesday that the Russian 145-pounder has notified the UFC of his decision to retire from active competition. Zabit was 18-1 in his MMA career and 6-0 in UFC from 2017-2019. Zabit defeated the likes of Calvin Kattar, Jeremy Stephens and more, having fans believing he could be a future UFC Featherweight Champion. Magomedsharipov was scheduled to face Yair Rodriguez in August 2020, but the bout was cancelled after Rodriguez suffered an injury. Magomedsharipov was never booked to compete again. Zabit recently hinted on social media that he is working towards a medical degree.
