Mark Henry Believes SmackDown Appearance Was Vince McMahon “Showing Off”
Former WWE star Mark Henry comments on Vince’s appearance on SmackDown last week.
For those who are still not in the know, Vince McMahon is currently being investigated by the WWE board regarding a three million dollar payoff to a paralegal signed to the company in 2019. Vince has since stepped down as CEO and Chairman until the investigation is over. Vince would appear on Friday’s SmackDown and despite much anticipation, it ended up being Vince saying a handful of words and leaving.
While speaking on the Busted Open show, Mark Henry stated that he believes Vince McMahon wanted to show off his billionaire mentality with his Smackdown appearance.
“You know what, this is the hottest thing in the world, you can possibly bring in people that have never even watched wrestling before and it was just a media deal, it was just a ratings push. The second thing was, you [Bully Ray] know Vince and I know Vince, and Vince is going through something that should be personal, shouldn’t even be out in the world. Just that people are not able to shut up about business that don’t belong to them and then they come out with it. Whether it’s right or wrong, it’s still personal.”
“I thought Vince was basically saying to everybody: ‘Listen, I’m not going to go into hiding, I’m not going to regress, I’m going to grow from this I’m a grown man, I’m not afraid of you. You can kiss my a*s.’ He had the ‘kiss my a*s club’, you know what, when you’re a billionaire, you got this ‘kiss my a*s’ mentality – ‘I could do whatever I need to do.’ I thought there was nothing short of that in that appearance.”

Of course, this opinion is not a new one since Friday. Many have criticized Vince McMahon for attempting to “pop a rating” by announcing his appearance amidst his controversy and investigation.
