Butch Credits Two AEW Stars For His Current WWE Character
It turns out two former WWE talents now signed to AEW helped Butch develop his character.
Since Pete Dunne became Butch on SmackDown, we have seen him be used in many different ways on the blue brand. He has been almost like a rabid dog, looking to fight anyone at anytime on the brand.
While speaking with The Metro in the UK, Butch talked about his current character. He credited Bryan Danielson and William Regal for his presentation in WWE.
“Part of what got him, where he was, was the stuff with Kane,” Butch said about Danielson’s cartoony partnership with Kane in 2012 that saw the two form the wildly popular “Team Hell NO!
Some of Regal’s best work was the straightlaced stuff later in his career, right? But earlier in his run, he was the commissioner doing all sorts of funny stuff,” referring to Regal’s early days in the then-WWF as the commissioner, as well as his tenure as the “Real Man’s Man.”
Butch to The Metro
Butch is currently teaming with Ridge Holland and Sheamus on SmackDown as the stable known as The Brawling Brutes. Time will tell how this character will continue to develop for Butch but for now, he attributes its success to Regal and Danielson.
