Trent Beretta Reveals Original Plans For Wheeler Yuta And Himself In AEW

It looks like we missed out on a great one on one matchup between Beretta and Wheeler.

Earlier this year, AEW ran a storyline where Wheeler Yuta sought to join the Blackpool Combat Club, leaving The Best Friends. He would succeed in making this jump, but a match between Trent and Yuta never came to pass on AEW TV.

Speaking on the Battleground podcast, Trent explained the original plans for the storyline.

“The way he got put in Best Friends was super weird and a hard situation for him to be in as a wrestler. Like, ‘Who is this new guy who is suddenly best friends with these guys I knew?’ The whole reason I was being upset with it is that we were planning on doing our own angle where we would eventually have a match and he would win my respect. I was like, ‘He needs something for people to grab on to.’ That’s why we did that, then it ended up working out a completely different way where I was mean to him for no reason and then he left.”

Trent Beretta clearly has no hard feelings towards Wheeler Yuta joining the Blackpool Combat Club. It is a shame we never got the one on one match with Wheeler however as that would have likely torn the house down if the two had been given time.
