Matt Hardy Reflects On Teaming With Former Rival Johnny Hardy

A fun tag team that ended in tears.

Most recently at Triplemania, Matt Hardy teamed with a surprise partner in Johnny Hardy who would replace Matt’s brother Jeff in the match due to Jeff Hardy’s DUI last week.

Speaking about the experience on the latest episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy said he really enjoyed teaming with Morrison and enjoyed being the headlining act of his very first Triplemania.

“Yeah, there’s another — Johnny Hardy, another doppelganger. It was a lot of fun. It was a long day. But it was a very productive and good day. I enjoyed it in the big scheme of things,” Hardy said. “I haven’t been to Mexico since 2018, that was the last time I went with WWE. So just going to Mexico, having a four-hour meet-and-greet where I interacted with so many enthusiastic, so many amazing Mexican fans. American fans were there as well. But it was a huge event. It was an outside packed house, packed stadium, and I was very proud of the match that myself and Johnny Hardy aka John Morrison, aka Johnny Mundo, aka Johnny IMPACT, aka Johnny Elite, I was very proud of our match against the Lee brothers. Those guys are extremely talented, and it makes me, once again, be very envious that I’m not in my 20s again. These guys can do everything. So it was a lot of fun. We went on last and I thought that was pretty cool to go to Triplemania and main event on your first shot. That was very cool.”

Johnny Hardy may not be a permanent gimmick, but Matt Hardy definitely enjoyed his time teaming with Morrison.
