Discovery Wanted Shark Week Tie-In For Eddie Kingston Vs Chris Jericho
It looks like a compromise was found.
With Discovery hosting their shark week next week, there was a request from Discovery for AEW to have a shark week tie-in. AEW found the best option was a shark cage crossed over into a barbed wire deathmatch stipulation.
On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the crossover. Discovery wanted to do some kind of Shark Week gimmick match. The shark cage holding the JAS above the ring is what they came up with.
“The shark thing, I guess, is the gimmick having to do with Shark Week. You know, Discovery asked them to do a tie-in and so they came up with a match to do a tie-in in. So, that’s a week from Wednesday.”

This match is likely to end the feud between Kingston and Jericho that has been going on since the build up to AEW Revolution earlier this year. Kingston and Jericho will have their Barbed Wire Death Match on AEW Dynamite July 20th.
