Jiri Prochazka Wants Glover Teixeira Rematch for his 1st UFC Title Defense: My performance was bad the first fight, and I will show you why I’m the champion clearly, decisively.”
The UFC Light Heavyweight champion has set his offer on the table for who he wants to defend the championship against first.
Jiri Prochazka defeated Glover Teixeira at UFC 275 in June. Prochazka caught Teixeira in a final minute choke in the 5th round to become the new champion in a back-and-forth classic.
Prochazka at first looked to defend against former champion Jan Blachowicz, however after posting a video on Instagram, he has now definitely let it be known he wants to have a better performance against Teixiera to leave his mark on the division.
“I want to fight Glover my next fight,” Prochazka said on his Instagram. “Not because it will be another big fight, but just one reason: My performance was bad the first fight, and I will show you why I’m the champion clearly, decisively. And I think Glover deserves it. So here’s the offer: I will show you why I am the champion.”
Teixeira, who was on a six-fight winning streak prior to the loss did let everyone know about the possibility of retiring in the lead up to the fight but after almost retaining his title, Teixeira feels his performance warrants an immediate rematch.
