WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships Update

The WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles are currently vacant and we don’t know if they’ll ever come back.

Sasha Banks and Naomi were the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions before walking out on RAW a few months back causing the titles to go vacant. Following this, WWE said on their programming that they’d have a tournament to crown new champions soon enough, but it never happened. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reached out to see what was going down involving the championships, and in short, nothing is going down. This is what the report reads;

The women’s tag team titles are vacant after Sasha Banks and Naomi left a WWE Raw show in May. WWE announced the following week that the titles were held up, with a tournament happening in the future. However, since then, no word of such has emerged. Natalya had been moved into a singles title program with Ronda Rousey, and weeks before the Naomi & Sasha Banks walkout, Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley were split, severely reducing the number of teams. Talent that we’ve spoken to said that they’ve received no word of when or if the tag team title tournament will actually happen. Even beyond that, they claim that they’ve heard no discussion regarding the tag team titles whatsoever since that announcement.

With the lack of women’s tag teams on the main roster, it’s no surprise that the titles haven’t made their way back on screen yet. Plus, at this point, it’s highly unlikely they ever will. If they do, many fans question if WWE has enough talent on the main roster to fill a tournament, so maybe some NXT call ups would be happening. Regardless, what do you think about WWE use of the women’s tag titles to this point? Let us know!
